My Baby Is All Grown Up…

Craig Setera — October 15, 2008 @ 7:13 pm — Miscellaneous, New Releases, Status Updates

and EclipseME has grown into the the Eclipse Foundation Mobile Tools for Java (MTJ) project. It is hard to believe, but it is now official. The first official release of the Eclipse MTJ project is now available and the release announcement can be found here:

http://www.eclipse.org/org/press-release/20081015_mtj.php

I will follow up soon with more details about what is to come from the EclipseME project, including information about making the transition from EclipseME to MTJ. I would like to urge all EclipseME users to download the MTJ release and use the import wizard to begin the transition. EclipseME users should find MTJ familiar and comfortable. Even better, the first MTJ release even includes some new features and a lot of new bug fixes.

More coming soon…

    Congratulations.
I have been using EclipseMe for years, and I’m glad it is now an official part of Eclipse.

    Hi Craig,
congratulations. I’m using EclipseME together with Eclipse 3.2. It is rather unclear to me, what MJT would bring, because I’m mainly satisfied with my current environment, but won’t miss something. Where to get _basic_ information, e.g. how to start from scratch with Eclipse, MJT and a Nokia 3rd SDK? The wiki isn’t very helpful at all.

  4. Robert Taylor Says:

Just to say ‘thanks’; I’ve been using EclipseME for a couple of years now and it’s been invaluable. I’m looking forward to giving the MTJ a try.

Best of luck in the future.

    Neil,

I’ve created a new entry on how to convert from EclipseME to MTJ. In addition, you should be able to use the EclipseME documentation as well as any of the many tutorials about EclipseME on the internet to get up and running with the Nokia SDK. The differences should be pretty obvious.

    Craig
